Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre is a multi-purpose organisation servicing the Upper Blue Mountains areas of Blackheath, Mt Victoria, Medlow Bath, Mt Wilson, Mt Irvine, Mt Tomah, Bell, Shipley Plateau, Little Hartley and the Megalong Valley.

What we do
BANC aims to encourage and strengthen community participation and networking by providing needed services, advocacy, information, education, referral services and community development programmes.
How we do it
BANC engages with the community and, being responsive to its needs, BANC aims to increase opportunities and develop initiatives that foster cultural and community life.
BANC Programmes and Activities
- BOOSH - Blackheath Out of School Hours Service for children aged 5- 12 years
- Community Access Service- day programme for people with disabilities
- Active Linking Initiative- day programme for people residing in boarding houses
- No Interest Loans Scheme- loans for essential items for people on low incomes
- One Van Puppet Festival- we play a co-ordinating role and it is under our auspice
- BANC Newsletter- produced quarterly and distributed to all households in the Blackheath area
- Over 50 courses and activities are offered per annum to community members
- Local projects are auspiced by us including Shiney Pictures and the Blackheath Community Gardens
- Photocopying, internet, fax and computer access are all available at the BANC premises
- We advocate on community issues and concerns
- BANC partners with other agencies and groups to deliver services and develop new programmes
